The definition of horsepower is “A measurement of power that is equal to moving 33,000 pounds one foot in one minute.” How is this relevant to your spa purchase? Well quite frankly, it isn’t.
This spa industry myth has been passed on year after year. So, how can you accurately measure spa performance? Gallons per minute (GPM) for pumps and Pounds per square inch (PSI) for jets are much better indicators.

 The number of jets, pumps and various plumbing in the spa create variables mere pump horsepower cannot compensate for, especially when giving an accurate measure of spa performance. Our engineers have a Performance Tuned rating for each model based on its components, not a flat general pump rating.  This provides clearer information regarding the actual performance of a Saratoga Spa® based on jet style, and the numbers of jets and pumps. Performance Tune Jet Placement is the true balance of GPM and PSI involved in the therapy benefit of your spa. |

| The operational cost of hot tubs will include many variables, more than any lab test will reveal. Saratoga Spa understands the hot tub owner will use their hot tub 2-3 times per week in the one period, and 4-6 times per week during another period. Ambient temperatures will vary from 50° - 70° across the country, as well as the duration of each use. With this in mind, here are the parameters for determining the approximate operating costs of our Saratoga Spas. |
